I used to be the Italian singer at the Macaroni Grill during a summer break from college one year and I would sing Happy Birthday to the customers. They insisted that I would sing it in Italian so I would "insist" that they hold their piece of cake on a plate in the air like the statue of liberty while I would sing to them! Well... as promised, I have put the link to the National Anthem that I sung on the 17th at the Men's U of M basketball game. Tonight I actually sang at the University of Minnesota Women's Gymnastics! If I had half of the flexibility and balance of these fine athletes I'd be buying a pair of uneven bars for my backyard and going to town!! Not only was I proud of them, but I got to sing again AND they pronounced my name right!! Whoo hoo! I was invited to sing the National Anthem for the Men's University of Minnesota Basketball game. It was a Big 10 game with over 18,000 fans. It was Pet Haven's first Tuxes and Tails event. There were over 200 people there including but not limited to local celebrities. They had a pet fashion show, wonderful dinner, silent auction and then my music. I am gearing up for a fun night at O'Garas on the 25th. There is a band from LA called Slow Car Crash that I will be opening for/playing with that night at O'Garas. Feel free to check out his music online too... it rocks!! Come out to St. Paul that night... I promise it will be a fun night. 9.15.2007     Jane Plank on Clear Channel We were chosen as one of the new artists for Clear Channel's New! Click to hear the song! We also finished getting 6 of our songs mastered at Winterland Studios! Brian is such a great guy over there!! We are also going to be participating in Pet Haven's Tuxes and Tails event October 13th. Make sure to check out their site and get your tickets ordered early. We will be playing there for an hour. They will also have a pet fashion show, dinner and a silent auction for those that are interested please shoot me an e-mail. The cost is $25.00 for just the music portion of the night or $50.00 for the dinner and event. All of the proceeds go to help rescue, foster and re-home dogs and cats. 6.29.2007     Restless Makes the Cut Well, we just got word last week that my song Restless was chosen from over 600 international entries to be on a sampler CD. The cd will be called Music For Life and the profits go towards cancer research. We are also laying the drum tracks for some of our fast songs so that a new guy we met up with can do some final mixing for us. Our next gig is at the Rosefest in Mpls. Jane Plank & Band 5.15.2007     Fun News! I got a myspace comment from The Bald Guy Show that they played one of my songs yesteray via Podcast. They played Restless which is one of the first songs that I wrote. The ability to Podcast a radio show is just so amazing. In the world of TEVO, DVR, Podcasting, etc. it gives people the ability to watch things even if they missed out the first time around. I don't know about you, but there have been times when people are talking about a funny thing on the radio when they drove into work and I just plain missed it. I can't give an opinion, laugh with them or disagree. I just have to sit there and be quiet in the corner. Well, no longer!! So, as more podcasts come out where they play my music I will let you know all know. Then you can go online and hear it for yourself!!! Jane Oh- I forgot to write-- I also bought a 32 foot RV from Texas this last weekend. That will come in handy when we go on tour!! 4.30.2007     Spring is here!! I got a little bit more sun this weekend!! We performed at the 318 club on Friday and it went great. I was able to meet the owner Matty and he seems like a great guy. I highly suggest going there for the turkey, apple and brie sandwich. It is sooo yummy! We played for about an hour and a half and had 49 people come out to the show. After the show, the flute player Dayna and Zach and Missy and I all got together and we jammed out for a little while on a new potential song. It was good times!! I also got an e-mail from our drummer Nate that he is going to have to ween himself away from the group. He has a family and too many other things going on to be able to committ to the band. We are continuing to book more and more gigs, so if anyone out there knows of a drummer that would like to be part of an active band let me know!! Until next time!! Rock ON! Jane 4.20.2007     The music is happening!! I would like to give everyone a little weekly update on things. I'd like it to be music related as much as possible, but sometimes I am also going to just write about things that I think about. It will help to give you a better feel about me!! Ok, this will be fun. Yesterday, I was thinking about age (because Missy is hitting 30!) and how the older you get the more you want bags for things. When I was younger I didn't mind carrying 6-10 things and NOT using a bag. Now, I go to a place like Jimmy John's subs and I want a bag for my 2 sandwiches that I bought. Then I remembered that when I visited my cute grandparents in Iowa, my grandma asked if I wanted a bag for something and I was only going to be carrying one thing! Maybe it's a convenience factor or just getting sick of having to lug a bunch of stuff around. Those are the kind of things that I think about when someone asks me if I'd like a bag for my stuff. I am going to be performing at Missy's b'day party tonight. We are all going to set up on the deck in the backyard and sing for a couple of hours. We are also getting ready with some new songs for the 318 next Friday. Make sure to come out, cause it should be a good time for all!! Til next time! Jane
